Sunday September 21, 2008 – arrival

The symposium begins at the Canadian Ecology Centre, located 50 km east of the City of North Bay, Ontario.  By road, take Highway 17 East to Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park and follow signs to the Canadian Ecology Centre. (35 minute road trip from North Bay to the centre).

 Shuttle service – North Bay to Canadian Ecology Centre

September 21 and 22 Shuttle service will be provided between the North Bay Airport and the Canadian Ecology Centre on Sunday September 21 and the morning of Monday September 22.

 Wednesday September 24, 2008 – in-conference field trip to Ottawa (included in registration)

The symposium registration includes travel from the Canadian Ecology Centre to the Lord Elgin Hotel in Ottawa on Wednesday September 24.  This is a four-hour trip by highway coach, and will include a scenic and informative field tour, including lunch and supper stops.

 Friday September 26, 2008
– symposium concludes in Ottawa

The symposium concludes in Ottawa, Friday September 26th, following a full-day field tour to Eastern Ontario Model Forest (included in registration).  The coach will arrive at the Ottawa Airport at 5:00 pm that day.  The coach will then make a stop at the Lord Elgin Hotel before departing for North Bay.  The coach will arrive North Bay approximately 10:00 pm.

 Recommended Itinerary for Air Travel
– National and International Participants

The best option is to book travel into North Bay, arriving afternoon or evening of September 21, and departure from Ottawa after 7:00 pm September 26.

Alternately, one may fly into North Bay, arriving afternoon or evening of September 21, and depart from North Bay the morning of September 27, following the return highway coach ride from Ottawa to North Bay September 26 (arriving North Bay approximately
10:00 pm.)

Transportation from Ottawa to the Canadian Ecology Centre is not provided at the front-end of the symposium on September 21.  If you would like some options for such travel, please contact Guy Smith by using the contact page.
